Perry Park Landscape Improvements & Play Area

Closes 5 May 2024

Opened 15 Apr 2024

Overview

The old play area in Perry Park was removed in advance of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in preparation for the Transport Mall infrastructure required to host such a large event.

Since that time play facilities in the park have been absent with the closest available play area being approximately 550m away on Perry Hall Playing Fields.

Why your views matter

The old play area was almost twenty years old when it was removed and was quite basic in its play provision. The legacy commitment from the games is to provide a much larger more inclusive up-to-date facility for local residents that can be enjoyed by everyone for years to come.

For this reason it would be very helpful to have an idea of the type of play activities that you would like to have in the park and we have included a number of questions in the following survey, which are centred around discovering these preferences.

It is important for us to hear your views on what happens in your local area, in addition the proposed improvements will contribute to the Council’s key priorities:

  • An Inclusive Birmingham: through a focus on tackling poverty and inequality, empowering citizens, promoting diversity and civic pride, and supporting and enabling all children and young people to thrive.
  • A Healthy Birmingham: through a focus on tackling health inequalities, encouraging physical activity and healthy living, supporting mental health, and improving outcomes for adults with disabilities and older people.
  • A Green Birmingham: through a focus on street cleanliness, improving air quality, continuing the route to net zero, and becoming a city of nature.
