We asked for comments with regards to the Local Sustainable Stirchley Local Centre.

There was strong support for majority of the proposed measures. A number of requests for additional measures were received. There was also some objections to some of the proposed measures.

We did

Following the feedback received during the consultation subsequent amendments were undertaken to the scheme. A preferred scheme Full Business Case was approved and the scheme was completed on site in spring 2015.

Overview

Birmingham City Council is working in partnership with Centro to deliver LSTF measures along A441 Pershore Road within the Stirchley Local Centre.

The scheme is part of a larger programme called Smart Network, Smarter Choices which is being delivered across the West Midlands. The scheme within the Stirchley Local Centre includes improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users.

The proposals for the Stirchley Local Centre are shown on the attached drawings CA-02102_S6_001B and 002. A summary of the proposals is listed below:

Stirchley Local Centre

  • Formalisation of parking provision within the Local Centre.
  • Improving existing controlled crossing facilities.
  • Installation of additional cycle parking facilities.
  • Proposed build outs at crossing points.
  • 20mph speed Zone / Limit.

These are preliminary proposals and may be subject to change depending on responses received from this consultation. It is intended to develop and implement these improvements in April 2014.
