We consulted for 6 weeks, following the consultation the request along will all comments was sent to the Office of The School's Adjudicator for a decision.

You said

We received 34 responses to the consultation on the variation to the admission number for September 2017 and September 2018.

Of the 34 responses, 33 were in favour and 1 was neither in favour or opposed to the proposal.

All comments were forwarded to the Office of The School's Adjudicator along with the formal request for consideration.

The Adjudicator has approved the Local Authority's request to vary the admission number ( the number of places that can be offered in reception year ) at St Benedict's School as follows;

September 2017 150 to 90

September 2018 150 to 60

Overview

Reduction to Published Admission Number for Reception Places in September 2017 and September 2018

St Benedict’s Infant School is a community infant school in the Bordesley Green ward of the Hodge Hill district. The school’s link junior partner is Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy.

The current admission number (number of pupils the school can admit in reception) is 150.

Up to 150 pupils transfer to Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy at the beginning of Year 3.

The school is situated on St Benedict’s Road.

The Local Authority, in collaboration with the Governing Body and the Leadership Team of the school, has agreed that a reduction in the admission number should be sought from the Schools Adjudicator from

  • 150 to 90 for entry into Reception in September 2017 and
  • 150 to 60 for entry in reception in September 2018.

The change to the admission number from 150 to 90 will not affect the current pupils at the school or those with an offer for reception place in September 2017.

 

Why your views matter

The Local Authority would like to give all current and future parents and all other interested parties the opportunity to comment on the Local Authority’s proposal to reduce the admission number.

The consultation will run for 6 weeks from 12th June 2017

We are keen to receive your comments on the proposal; and you can comment online here until midnight on 23rd July 2017.

What happens next

At the end of the 6 week consultation (which ends on Sunday 23rdJuly), all views received will have personal details removed and will be forwarded, along with the in year variation application to The Office of School's Adjudicator. The Adjudicator will consider the application and views made and will make a decision.

When we receive the decision from the Adjudicator we will publish this on the "We asked, you said, we did" section of this consultation.
