Overview
Birmingham City Council is working in partnership with Centro to deliver local sustainable transport measures along the A41 Warwick Road and Acocks Green Local Centre. The schemes are part of a larger programme called Smart Network, Smarter Choices which is being delivered across the West Midlands.
The scheme, on the A41 Warwick Road, includes improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users, such as the provision of pedestrian crossing points, shared use footways and cycle lanes.
The scheme, at the Acocks Green Local Centre, includes improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users, such as the reduction of carriageway lanes from 2 to 1 in each direction, widening of existing footways (some of which will be shared use pedestrian and cyclist), provision of high quality stone footways and street furniture, formalising of parking restrictions and installation of 20mph speed limit area.
These are preliminary proposals and may be subject to change depending on the response received from this consultation.
Why your views matter
Additional measures are now being proposed which includes the following:
Extension to 20mph limit;
Shared Use cycle way/footways;
Additional details on the proposed two way traffic flow between the A41 Warwick Road/Station Road junction to Arden House car park; and
Confirmation of parking/loading restriction timings (1hr, no return within 1hr).
What happens next
Results will inform scheme development and will be relayed to any specifically and directly affected residents. Ward Councillors and the Senior Constituency Engineers will also be informed.
