Sprint A34 Phase 2 Walsall to Birmingham Traffic Regulation Orders

Closed 15 Aug 2024

Opened 25 Jul 2024

Overview

What is Sprint?

Sprint is a new, modern, high quality public transport service. It runs on the road with dedicated bus lanes and priority through areas of congestion, which will make journey times much more reliable.

Work on Phase 1 of Sprint was completed in 2022, and these proposals are for Phase 2 of the improvements.

About this consultation

This consultation is the formal advertisement of the Traffic Regulation Orders.

A Traffic Regulation Order, or TRO, is the legal documentation required to make changes to the status of the highway (road).

Public consultation on the A34 Sprint Phase 2 plans took place betweeen 24 February and 24 March 2023. We now have to carry out this formal, legal process before the changes can be introduced on the road itself.

During this consultation, you can make comments on the proposals or submit a formal objection (which must include the grounds for the objection).

You can make your response in one of three ways:

  • Submit your response on this webpage, in the ‘Online Survey’ section (please provide your contact details as part of your response)
  • Email transport.projects@birmingham.gov.uk
  • Post a written objection to: Assistant Director - Transport & Connectivity, Place, Prosperity & Sustainability Directorate, Birmingham City Council, PO Box 14439, Birmingham, B2 2JE.

The easiest and most convenient way to object is via this webpage.

All responses must be received by 15 August 2024.

If you have chosen to object to the proposed orders, you may be contacted by a project officer to further discuss your objection.

If you have any questions about Sprint, please contact Transport for West Midlands’s Customer Services Team on 0345 303 6760  or email customerservices@tfwm.org.uk.

What is included in this consultation?

A Traffic Regulation Order, or TRO is the legal documentation required to make changes to the status of the highway (road).

A TRO is accompanied by a plan (map) showing the proposed measures visually.

This TRO includes three types of change: red route, bus lane and pedestrian crossing.

This consultation is about the TROs for Sprint which are within the Birmingham local authority boundary.

All the documents for this consultation can be downloaded at the bottom of this page, but to help make it easier to navigate and find the parts you are interested in, they are also set out in a list and a table of locations.
